About the Music
___
a few words regarding "Songs about Sex and Death"
In as few words as possible,
"Songs About Sex and Death"
is the body of my work as an individual musician. In other words, it's all the
music conceived by, written and arranged by, performed by, and recorded by me,
Evan Wilson. The first two questions that probably come to your mind at
this point are, 1) "What style of music is it?", and 2) "What the hell does
he mean by
'Songs About Sex and Death'
?"
The style of this music is, simply put, Rock 'n' Roll. I'm not going to split
any hairs with characterizations like "post-industrial pop-rock fusion, with
influences from blues, reggae, and neo-classical/funk crossover." Forget it!
This here is good ol' fashioned Rock 'n' Roll. It's a bit eclectic at times,
perhaps, but there's always a good, solid beat that you can count on down
there in the mix somewhere.
I usually can't resist putting a little content into my songs. When it comes
to choice of content, well, I tend to go for the classics. The two most
popular themes in all music for all time (and art, and literature, and
theatre, etc., etc., for ever and ever, amen) are
Sex
and
Death.
So naturally, the lyrics of most of my songs can be traced back to one of
those two basic themes. There are, of course, infinite possible variations
on those themes, etc., etc., for ever and ever, amen.
So, anyway... I hope you enjoy my somewhat bizarre music. (And I hope you buy
my CD's!) And if you don't enjoy my music, well then...choke on it! (NOTE:
If you buy one of my CD's, you can use it to choke yourself. This is NOT,
however, recommended. Try listening to it instead.)
